I have a nephew who never loved to read, and yet I sent him books all of his life. We have a much more avid reader in our home so I didn't realize that they had had no effect or interest for my nephew. As a 2nd grader, he loves Pokémon...but when he sat down to start reading his first Diamond & Pearl book, he read it through in one sitting and told his mom right after that it was the only book he had ever enjoyed reading in his life.I will definitely order this whole set and go for the next sets of Pokémon. Just because I can't stand the books or the show doesn't mean I am the one who has to read it. To each 2nd grader his own. What matters is literacy...and happiness.
